World Cup 1950-1990

The Golden Age of the World Cup?  Between 1950 when the Finals were held in Brazil (and not won by the hosts by the way), the World Cup reverted on an approximately tournament-by-tournament basis between South America and Europe, the twin hot beds of the game.  Perhaps the game wasn't as popular in other parts of the world (well except in Africa) but there seemed no logical reason why the Finals should be taken elsewhere.  So it wasn't.
