Arsenal has won the FA Cup on no fewer than 12 occasions, making them the record holder for the number of FA Cup wins with one more than Manchester United.
They have appeared in a further 7 finals - 19 finals being another record. Arsenal's first win came in 1930 and was their first ever trophy as they beat Huddersfield Town at Wembley. The FA Cup tradition of the teams walking out side by side was started in this year in honour of former Huddersfield manager Herbert Chapman, now of course in charge of the Gunners.
In 1936 Sheffield United were the losing team and in 1950, it was Liverpool's turn. Subsequent FA Cup wins have been against Liverpool again (1971 - Arsenal's first double year), Man Utd (1978), Sheffield Wednesday (1993), Newcastle United (1998 - Arsenal's second double year), Chelsea (2002 - a third double season), Southampton (2003), Man Utd again (2005). A nine-year hiatus followed before Arsenal won their eleventh and twelfth FA Cup titles in 2014 and 2015 - Hull City and Aston Villa being their most recent victims.
